Anomalies of asian summer monsoon related to ssta in the south China Sea and the tropical pacific

SST data from 1945 to 1997 was used to analyze the interannual variability of SST in the South China Sea (SCS). Anomalous variations of the Asian summer monsoon related to the SCS SSTA were statistically investigated and compared with those related to the SSTA of the tropical Pacific. It was found that the anomalous pattern of the Asian summer monsoon related to the SCS SSTA is, to some extent, similar to that related to CEP (tropical central-eastern Pacific), and contrary to that of WP (warn pool) SSTA.
