This paper is concerned with the analysis of two-dimensional equations that arise in the theory of generalized Newtonian fluids. The main result is as follows: if the data of the corresponding initial boundary problem are smooth, then any spatial derivative of the velocity field is a locally Lipschitz function. ©2002 Plenum Publishing Corporation. © 2002 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
