摘要
A pH sensor based upon gentle covalent modification of individual metallic single-wall carbon nanotubes is demonstrated. The sensing mechanism relies upon the protonation-dependent charge carrier scattering (see figure) by N,N-diethylaniline moieties anchored to the tube sidewall. This novel approach holds promise to extend the accessible range of nanotube-based (bio)chemical sensors. © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
