摘要：

Although sealed soils can make up 10-95% of a city's area, they have received limited attention, and very little is known about their processes or biological activities. And yet there is a great need for this data for environmental assessments for restoration, recovery, and remediation. The article presents data on the microbiological activity of sealed soil horizons: urbic horizons, as well as buried, or scalped humus-accumulative horizons in urban soils in the city of Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The abundance and species compositions of the microbial communities of these horizons are considered in connection with the content of various forms of organic carbon and nitrogenous compounds in the soil.
