Amyloid deposit in the brain causes neurological diseases characterized by dementia. These deposits are constituted by fibrilar proteins with P-planar shape whose origin is due to mutations, infections or exogenous alterations. Treatment of cerebral amyloid angiopathy depends on the cause and at present, the manipulation of the synthesis of the responsible peptides, their chemical solubilization or extraction outside of the nervous system, are being investigated.
