摘要
The present work deals about performance and emission characteristics of a diesel engine fueled with biodiesel produced from underutilized, feedstock Gmelina arborea oil. The experiments were conducted using various blends (B10, B20, B30, and B40) of methyl ester of GAOwith diesel in a single cylinder, four strokes and direct injection diesel engine. The test results show that the brake thermal efficiency (BTE), in general, was found to be decreased and BSFC increased with increased volume fraction of Gmelina arborea biodiesel (GAB) in the blends. While a marginally higher BTE and lower BSFC were noticed for B10 blend than diesel. At higher load conditions, Carbon mono oxide (CO), Unburnt hydrocarbon (UHC), and smoke opacity were found lower for all GAB blends in comparison to neat diesel. The NOx emissions were found to be increased for GAB-based fuel in comparison to neat diesel.
