摘要
The extraction of shale gas occurs in the world in different ways, advancing on new territories and using increasingly aggressive techniques such as fracking or hydraulic fracturing. The objective of this work is to discuss the potential environmental consequences of its extraction in Brazil, presenting the policies related to its exploitation and the legal implications that guide the discussion in Brazil. It is a basic research with a qualitative and exploratory approach supported mainly by the international literature on the subject. The results showed that there is a high degree of environmental risk with hydraulic billing that can contaminate soil, groundwater and aquifers, however in Brazil there is no law that prohibits exploration. It concludes that given the imminent search for clean and renewable energy, the demand for fossil fuel does not justify the extraction of shale gas both environmentally and commercially.
