摘要
Environmental requirements for reduced emissions of total reduced sulfur (TRS) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the emissions from pulping operations are leading to dedicated incinerators of high destruction efficiency and thermal performance. The first installation in Canada of a Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO) unit was placed in service early in 1997 at the kraft pulp mill of Cascades East-Argus (Quebec). Tests have shown a reduction of 99.2% in the TRS with a thermal factor of 87.8% in the RTO. Improvements to the equipment are being implemented as required to increase the destruction efficiency further such as to achieve the local TRS emissions requirements.
