Characterisation of damage in bolted composite joints under bearing and by-pass loading

摘要：
A new method has been developed to experimentally determine the initial failure point within composite specimens under bearing versus by-pass loading. This was done by mounting a jig onto the specimen which measured the elongation of the specimen and movement of the bearing loading pin. The initial and ultimate failure loads have been determined for two sets of carbon composites and results have been validated with C-Scan pictures.
