摘要
this article aims to analyze the way in which Christian churches, par-ticularly in Peru, address the environmental emergency from their interpretations of the Bible. The Christianity that we have inherited was forged by people who lived in fear of nature menacing forces. They worshipped an almighty God, hoped for salvation, and maintained elements in their doctrine that, interpreted literally, lead them to justify the unmeasured exploitation of creation and / or indolence in the face of the destruction of the environment. Added to these limitations is the effect of contingent factors linked to the precariousness that prevails in the region. However, from another perspective, religious people today are playing a prophetic leadership role, following the urging of Pope Francis. Based on this analysis, we delineate theological and pastoral avenues that must be developed to forge a greater agency of the population in favor of the environment, particularly from the proper use of science.
