摘要
Product development deals with the interface between the customer and the design concept, i.e. the translation from "what should be done" to "how to accomplish such wants" through engineering solutions. Finding these solutions can be a difficult task with enormous consequences. Poor design decisions in this interface can rarely be recouped by subsequent development efforts. The development of principle-based approaches, such as Axiomatic Design and TRIZ, to guide better decisions in mapping one design domain to another, have tremendous implications in the evolution of engineering quality products with unprecedented customer satisfaction.
