摘要
Shutdown chemistry control is employed for the purpose of avoiding uncontrolled releases of activated corrosion or fission products into the reactor coolant system (RCS) and containment atmosphere. Such releases can lead to unnecessary occupational radiation exposure during refueling and may cause delays in outage schedules. The purpose of this paper is to discuss strategies and practices employed at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) to mitigate areas of adverse effects, and optimize coolant cleanup and ALARA during refueling outages.
