Commercial health insurance plays an essential and indispensable part, with increasing significance, in health care system in China, fulfilling various needs from individuals. More and more attentions are now being paid onto it due to high morbidity of severe diseases and costly medical expenditure. In recent years, despite significant development in market of commercial health insurance, its relative rate in development, taking economic development and economic scale into consideration, is not as satisfying as expected. Therefore, based on the medical reform and public needs, the study of influential factors of commercial health insurance in Zhejiang Province in term of demands, has profound significance on the long-term development of insurance system. Meanwhile, the study can help insurance companies seize opportunities and pinpoint the features of residents' health care insurance in Zhejiang, to exploit more various and competitive products to win the market. Firstly in the study, five aspects, namely the economic development, disease risks, population status quo, social factors, and insurance consciousness, are selected to analyze the influential factors of development of commercial health insurance in Zhejiang. Then, with the data on per capita disposable income, per capita health care expenditure, total health care expenditure in government expenditures, the ratio of the elderly in population, urban population number and penetration of health care insurance, from 2000 to 2013. We use multiple linear regression model, to analyze influential ways and degrees of demands for commercial health insurance by each factors in Zhejiang. Empirical analysis shows that urban population number, penetration of health care insurance has a most important influence of commercial health insurance in Zhejiang Province; the ratio of the elderly in population impacts followed; the rest had no significant effect. Finally, corresponding suggestions, on the robust development of insurance and the way to increase demands for commercial health insurance, are put forward in the final part.
