New refractory materials and products for metallurgy

A conference on the use of new type of refractory products in the metallurgical industry, held by the Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys was discussed. The participants in the conference included representatives of 80 companies, research center and other organizations. The issues related to the refractory materials and products for metallurgy included quality of the metal, the quantities of energy carriers used, the downtime for repairs and the problems related to the organization of production operations and acquisition of necessary materials. It was observed that the industry needed to resolve the problems of achieving the same level of durability for different region of furnace and ladle and increasing the life of the lining of ladles.
