The study of traffic delay based on cellular automation model of traffic flow

摘要
Based on the single-lane traffic cellular automaton (CA) model introduced by Nagel and Schreckenberg (1992), the delays of vehicles have been studied. Delay models and numerical simulations have been carried out. The dynamic characteristics of moving vehicles with different deceleration probabilities and densities are discussed. The relation between average delay and density for different deceleration probabilities has been presented. The results show that the delays of vehicles are directly related to the dynamic characteristics of vehicles and the density of the lane. This finding can be used as a technique to appraise the level of service of roads.
