Green roofs represent important element in the future urban drainage area concepts. Their decentralized regulatory and retention function contributes significantly to a reduction of the runoff maximum flows (peaks) and runoff volume. For this reason, the green roofs technology has a significant potential to become one of the key elements of sustainable spatial development in urban areas. We expect that in the future green roofs may become to be a water resource of service water, which can be used both to green roof maintenance (watering during dry periods), as well as for other less demanding water use. In this paper we describe and analyse the results of chemical analyses of effluent quality of green roof. The probes were taken from the green roof experimental model during stormy rainfalls. As part of the research the possibility of different substrates use for the construction of green roofs were studied.
