Temperature dependence of tunnel-type GMR in insulating granular systems

摘要
We have investigated temperature dependence of tunnel-type giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in insulating granular systems of Co-Al-O and Fe-Al-O. Below 50 K the magnetoresistance Delta/rho(max) remarkably increases with decreasing temperature, resulting in Delta rho/rho(max) = 16% and 25% at 4.2 K for Co52Al20O28 and Fe44Al17O39, respectively. This increase cannot be interpreted well by means of extending the theory for tunnel-type GMR in ferromagnetic tunnel junctions, but it suggests that the magnitude of GMR is influenced by Coulomb blockade in insulating granular systems.
