Electroreduction of zinc ions from zincate electrolytes in the presence of surfactants

摘要
The influence that combined additives based on a polymerized tetraalkylammonium salt exert on the kinetics of the cathodic zinc deposition from zincate electrolytes is studied. A progressing nucleation is shown to be typical for electrolytes with and without surfactants. At negative potentials ( < -1.7 V), surfactants give rise to a continuous adsorption film at the electrode surface. The film inhibits the discharge of zinc ions and leads to formation of finely crystalline bright coatings.
