On the Industrial Development of China's Western Region Based on Eco-efficiency

摘要
Eco-efficiency is a kind of cross-efficiency linking environmental with economic issues and measuring the environmental impact added attributed to per output value created. The industries of western China have been increasing steadily but still lag behind the eastern region with the implementation of the west development strategy. From the perspective of sustainable development, this paper discovers the problems such as weakened resources, poor environmental performance and serious environmental pollution in the resources-directional structure of the west industry. And then the eco-efficiency of material metabolism in the west is calculated through the factor's analysis and principle component's analysis which shows the falling trend on the whole. As a result, it is necessary to develop the industrial ecology in the west for changing its ways of economic growth. This paper points out that the keys of improving the eco-efficiency of regional material metabolism are the increasing of resources, and environmental efficiencies, and the establishment of recycling chain of the re-utilization of waste resources.
