摘要
Cive Me strength: Methylation of the easily accessible weakly coordinating dianion [B12Cl12]2- affords Me 2B12Cl12 (see picture). This neutral compound is a stronger methylating agent than commonly used methyl triflate, and it even methylates benzene. The synthesis, crystal structure, and reactivity of Me 2B12Cl12 in solution and the gas phase are discussed. (Figure Presented). © 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
