Effect of free-stream turbulence on heat transfer behind a rib and inclined downward step

In the paper, interaction of separated turbulent flow with highly turbulent free-stream field is analyzed. Experimental data on the effect of free-stream turbulence (Tu(s)approximate to 1 divided by 15%) on the pressure coefficients and heat-transfer processes behind a rib and downward step of different height (H=3 divided by 30 mm) are presented. The inclination angle of the step wall varied from 90 degrees to 15 degrees. Peculiarities are considered of heat transfer intensification in the recirculation zone as well as in the reattachment and relaxation regions as dependent on geometric parameters of the obstacles.
