Research on Security Authentication Mechanism of Converging WiMAX and 3G Networks

The integration of multiple wireless access technologies is the development trend of wireless networks. The Converge of WiMAX and 3G systems may achieve some complementary advantages. For example, it may provide higher quality and more efficient service in the hybrid network. This paper focuses on the authentication of users in different service area, which basic idea is introducing hierarchical Proxy Gateway into mobile IP network. We provide a hierarchical authentication integration architecture for WiMAX and 3G systems, which makes the authentication process localized. Furthermore, our authentication scheme may improve the authentication efficiency and the security performance.
