Simultaneous visceral and cutaneous Leishmaniasis in HIV infected patients

Over the last decade, various authors have presented cases in which Leishmaniasis was associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. In this context, visceral leishmaniasis continues to be the most frequently described, although cutaneous forms have also been found. The simultaneous presentation of the visceral and cutaneous forms of leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania infantum is rarely found in the literature. The authors carried out a retrospective study of all the patients admitted to an Infectious Disease Department with a confirmed diagnosis os leishmaniasis and HIV infection. An analysis of those presenting with simultaneous visceral and cutaneous forms was carried out.
