This document analyzes various choices of downsizing staff under the condition of economic crisis, including downsizing or not, downsizing directly or flexibly, blitz or transitional downsizing, downsizing strategically or structurally, downsizing employees with shorter length of service or the ones with longer. In order to help enterprises make layoff decision effectively, downsizing phenomenon is summarized, the influential elements behind the phenomena are analyzed, and the misunderstandings existing in downsizing are revealed.
