A Content Placement Scheme for Information-Centric Networking

摘要
Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is one of the most dominant architectures for the Future Internet. In ICN, content items are cached for a while by network nodes (e.g., routers) before passing them to the customers. Networking Named Content (NNC), which is one of the relevant proposals to in-network caching, suggests that caching contents at every node along the path can improve caching gain in terms of hit rate and content retrieval delay. However, it is investigated in some caching strategies that storing contents at only one intermediate node along the path can improve caching hit and reduce content redundancy. Besides, some strategies which store most popular contents are considered better in performance, especially in content hit ratio and redundancy. In this study we present a scheme named Content Placement Mechanism (CPM) based on popularity of the contents that improves caching gain and reduces both redundancy and retrieval delay of contents.
