摘要
This paper proposes a wearable low cost ultrasound based urinary bladder volume measurement with an alarm system using Arduino microcontroller and Arduino Shield. The system uses a previously defined equation to find the depth and height of the anterior wall of the urinary bladder and thereby finding the bladder volume. This is done with an ultrasound transducer that produces ultrasound echoes, which are transmitted and received from the urinary bladder. The main task of processing the received ultrasound echo is performed using Arduino microcontroller. A threshold is set for the specific value of volume of bladder and based on which the alarm system is turned ON. The estimated value of bladder volume is transmitted to the alarm system through the Arduino Shield. The system can be used for uninterrupted monitoring of bladder volume and taking care of unconscious elders, handicapped with spinal cord injury (SCI), other urological patients and children with nocturnal enuresis.
