In this work the properties of HY zeolite containing nickel oxide was investigated using thermal analysis (TG/DTA) and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR). The results obtained by XRD and FTIR showed that the impregnation method used did not change the structure of HY zeolite. TPR profiles showed two events at 238 and 507 degreesC which were attributed to reduction of nickel oxide on the HY cavities at different temperatures. The thermodesorption of n-butylamine from Ni*/HY zeolite showed typically two larger mass loss events attributed to the elimination of n-butylamine adsorbed on the weak acid sites and on the medium+strong acid sites.
