Laparoscopic chryptorchidectomy and ovariectomy in the standing horse - Part 1: Laparoscopic diagnosis and castration of the abdominal cryptorchid horse

The use of laparoscopy in veterinary medicine is becoming more and more common. This article explains the indication and principles of this minimally invasive technique for diagnosis and therapy of the cryptorchid horse. The surgical procedure to remove the abdominal retained testicle in the standing sedated horse is described and documented by photographs. The advantages of this technique compared to conventional methods are discussed.
