Compact Triple-band Monopole Antenna with Dual Fork-shaped Strips for WLAN/WiMAX Applications

摘要
A miniature single-layer CPW-fed monopole antenna with triple-band operation for wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) application is presented. By inserting a small fork-shaped strip into a bigger modified fork-shaped patch element, the antenna with overall dimensions of only 25x20x0.8 mm3, is capable of generating three distinct operating bands, 2.27 - 2.61, 3.37 - 3.89, and 4.88 - 6.69 GHz covering all the 2.4/5.5/5.8 GHz WLAN bands and the 3.5/5.5 GHz WiMAX bands. Moreover, the antenna shows good monopole-like radiation patterns and stable antenna gains across the three operating bands.
