摘要
A notable industry that is constantly evolving through time is the Transportation Industry. In this paper, we analyze data provided by California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 6 to look for recurring patterns within State Highway 99. We produce a testing method to calculate the Level of Service (LOS) to determine the quality of traffic flow on a roadway. This method would make it more efficient for transportation engineers by creating a system to accurately initiate where projects are truly needed. Using a k-Nearest Neighbor predictive model, we are also able to forecast future LOS changes to see a more realistic view on how California Highways are evolving. Predictive analytics depicted a decline in traffic flow of highways with respect to the current data given during this study. Moreover, we are able to conclude that this method will only be viable as time passes by collecting more data in order to accurately represent each location with a Level of Service variable.
