Don Abbondio and the good: anatomy of a dialogue

This study analyses globally, including psychological and linguistic aspects, the meeting between don Abbondio and the "bravi" at the beginning of The Berothed, focusing especially on the various phases of the dialogue between the irate and don Rodrigo's messengers. Particular attention is devoted to the according employed during the conversation, drawing frequent parallels between the text of the definitive edition of the novel and that of Fermo e Lucia.
