Moral image of the clergy of the first half of the XIX century (on the example of Tobolsk province)

On the basis of historical sources the author analyzes the moral image of the clergy of Tobolsk province in the middle of the XIX century. the deviation among the clergy was quite widespread. The content analysis of archival documents, which was based on the classification of deviations of the clergy, proposed by A. V. Vasilyeva, showed that the main offenses of the clergy of the Tobolsk province were: non-performance or improper performance of official duties, violation of public morality and order, criminal behavior. The most frequent were such precedents as the wedding of people not of their parish, drunkenness, systematic absence from the service, rudeness towards parishioners, non-performing debt obligations.
