摘要
Lossy mode resonance (LMR) induced by cladding mode in long-period fiber grating (LPFG) is proposed and numerically investigated in this work. TiO2 film is deposited on cladding surface of single mode fiber and LMR is stimulated by a cladding mode that is coupled from core mode by the grating. The mode coupling properties of LPFG facilitate to tune the LMR characteristics by properly selecting grating structural parameters. The influence of film thickness and length, as well as the cladding mode order, on the the LMR spectrum are fully investigated. As for an application of sensor for surrounding refractive index, the numerical results show that the sensitivity reaches about 3720 nm/RIU and 820 nm/RIU when the film is 269 nm and 1300 nm, respectively.
