ATM scenarios for SDH/SONET networks

摘要：
The recent trends in the telecommunications market require sound strategies for the introduction of asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology to protect both past and ongoing investment by service providers in SDH/SONET and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM)-based optical networks. Such strategies should allow a graceful network evolution with cost-effective infrastructure development. This paper proposes SDH/SONET network evolution strategies and requirements to cope with these emerging market demands.
