Loop Antenna Design for Smart Energy Meter

摘要
A 2.45 GHz rectangular wire loop antenna is designed for a smart energy meter in a wireless sensor network (WSN). The meter components and the case for the smart energy meter greatly influence the antenna efficiency. To improve the efficiency of the loop antenna in presence of these components, the position of the feed point and gap size of the loop antenna are adjusted. This study also measures various antenna parameters to validate the proposed antenna in the smart energy meter environment. The impedance bandwidth of this antenna at less than -10 dB is 220 MHz (2.40-2.62GHz), covering the proposed bandwidth (2.4-2.485 GHz), and the maximum gain achieved is 3.4 dBi.
