Relation between the latitudinal dependence of the conductivity and global electric field in the atmosphere

摘要
Using the numerical model, it has been indicated that the sign and value of the Earth charge substantially depend on the latitudinal distribution of atmospheric conductivity along the Earth's surface at a stationary solution of the problem of global electric field generation by worldwide storms. The Earth charge is positive at an actual latitudinal dependence of the atmospheric conductivity. The numerical dependence of the total charge on the degree of latitudinal nonuniformity of atmospheric conductivity has been calculated taking into account orography and anisotropic conductivity in high layers of the atmosphere.
