Study on Emotional Intelligence, Quality of Life and interpersonal relationships of people with Intellectual Disability

This research analyzes the relationship between emotional intelligence, quality of life and interactions in a pre-established group of people with Intellectual Disability. The sample consists of 15 subjects (n=15), with an average age of 34.93 (+/- 12.28) and average disability of 64.07%. The following instruments were used: Trait Meta Mood Scale 24 (TMMS-24), INICO-FEAPS Scale (self-report mode and other people's report) and the development of a sociogram or social map. The results showed the positive relationship between some of the dimensions of emotional intelligence and quality of life (p <.05). On the other hand, the analysis of the sociogram established the different roles of the subjects within the group structure and a moderate group cohesion. The subsequent comparison reports significant differences between subjects with normal values. There is evidence of the lack of studies on emotional intelligence and quality of life in pre-established groups of people with disabilities.
