摘要
The topic of Active Networks has been of significance interest for a number of years since it enables the network infrastructure to be more intelligent. The task of network traffic managing and monitoring falls directly into this area since it is function that should be provided by the network infrastructure. Traditionally this work has been limited to the lower levels of the OSI model. This uses the processing capability of active network techniques to monitor and manage traffic at the Application Level hence allowing information on general internet usage including Social Web-sites to be gathered. This can provide invaluable information for Network Managers to ensure the Network Policy set out by the company can be adhered to. Implementation of the system was based on the Linux OS open source code, extended by developed modules. The complex system architecture and the features of data processing and interactions are discussed in this paper.
