A new algorithm for power system signal processing

摘要
In power systems, many system messages hide in the voltage and current signals. Many useful applications, based on estimating the frequency, damping, and phasor of voltage and current signals, has been developed, such as load shedding, fault location, economic dispatch, and so on. Usually, the waveforms of voltage and current are not pure sine waves. Harmonies produced by power electronic equipments and DC offset caused by a fault are very often in power system signals; even the fundamental frequency also varies with the state of power system. In this paper, we present a new algorithm for power system signals. In this new algorithm, the waveform parameters include damping, amplitude, frequency and phase, which are all computed as same as those by Prony method. However, this new algorithm is more flexible than Prony method. Moreover, we can combine this new algorithm with a specific Finite Impulse Response (FIR) window filter or Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) to get better computation results. This feature is responsible for the usefulness of this algorithm applied in power systems.
