摘要
Ecology has moved from simply considering isolated populations to considering populations within patches within landscapes. The resulting distribution will depend upon the behavioural decision of individuals. In this paper I review the main behavioural concepts of landscape ecology (ideal free and ideal despotic distributions, buffer effect, Allee effect sources and sinks, ecological traps), review the evidence relating to bird populations, consider the consequences for conservation on a landscape scale and outline gaps in our knowledge.
