Parastillation columns an alternative to conventional and vacuum distillation

摘要
This work presents studies of Parastillation process. A computer program was developed to simulate the column operations. This simulation uses the rigorous MESH equations applied to multicomponent Parastillation column. The non-linear algebraic equation system was solved using Nalphtali-Sandholm method. The process was studied for two distilling systems, including low pressure operation. The results show that the Parastillation process presents strongly reduced column height to obtain the same separation grade when it is compared than conventional column. Murphree tray efficiency for distillation and Parastillation process were calculated and discussed. The application of parastillation may lead to significant energy savings.
