摘要
Purpose: to describe current imaging protocols for diagnostic imaging of the hypopharynx and adjacent spaces Material and Methods: currently imaging of the hypopharynx is based on conventional radiologic techniques like barium swallow, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Results: MRI has proven to be the superior imaging technique for the staging of hypopharyngcal tumors and the neck lymphnodes. Spiral technology for computed tomography has currently improved the diagnostic capabilities of CT, providing a fast and precise imaging protocol. Conclusion: MRI and CT no cv can precisely evaluate patients with suspicion of hypopharyngel tumors and assist in staging and differential diagnosis.
