Influence of Thigh Compression on Perceptual Response and Physiological Performance in Incremental Cycling of Young Athletes

The present investigation was to study the influence of three different thigh compressions on physiological performance, the ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) scale and subjective sensation responses. Twelve young athletes performed incremental cycling tests for heart rate, oxygen uptake VO2, lactate and RPE in three pressure level exerted by compression bands. Subjective perception questionnaire for comfort, thermal, tactile sensations were recorded. Repeated ANOVA tests were applied to conduct the comparison. The results did not show any significant effect of three different thigh compressions on RPE and physiological performance. Magnitude-based of estimated means suggested that middle compression likely improves the dry, light and smooth perception at the end of exercise.
