Based on the study of four representations of the figure of the king in Cervantes' theatre: "El Trato de Argel", "Los Banos de Argel", "La Gran Sultana" and "Pedro de Urdemalas", this article aims at demonstrating how authority and power can be seen as forces, sometimes contrasting sometimes convergent.
