A CAD system for design of handles

Prolonged using of poorly designed handle of handheld products, which require repeated exertions, forceful application or unnatural hand posture, may lead to cumulative trauma disorders. This paper introduces the development of a CAD system for design of handles, aiming at facilitating the design with ergonomic considerations based on anthropometric data and design evaluating criteria. The system uses two CAD models, namely a hand model and a product model. During the design phase, the product model is evaluated interactively by using the built-in evaluation criteria together with the interaction with the hand model.
