The purpose of this paper is to review the relationship between internal and external drivers, green logistics practices and sustainability performance holistically. The internal drivers include organizational, employees, and decision makers. External drivers on the other hand, that consist of technology, international and environmental are expected to influence the adoption of green logistics for sustainable performance. In a world of increasing global competition, logistics providers aspire to improve their services by implementing green logistics into their daily activities. Green logistics incorporates various aspects of environmental sustainability in logistics. Green logistics implementation includes green transportation, green storage, green packaging, green loading and unloading, green distribution processing, green information collection and management and waste recycling. In addition, green logistics may enhance sustainability performance in terms of economics, social and environmental aspects. Therefore, an extensive literature review will be used in the study using several leading logistics texts to discuss internal and external drivers as well as green logistics practices to achieve sustainability performance. States those internal and external drivers and green logistics may make a fruitful contribution to the sustainability performance. Thus, this review aims to provide guidelines for logistics providers to implement green logistics practices. Eventually, the proposed relationships between internal and external drivers, green logistics practices and sustainability performance are sought to be tested empirically in future studies.
