Applications of Computational Intelligence in Remote Sensing Image Analysis

Remote sensing image analysis, such as image segmentation, image classification and feature extraction, is a very hard task because there are many uncertainties in remote sensing and there is not a definite mathematical model in remote sensing image data. It is difficult for traditional methods to deal with this problem. Therefore, many scholars try to solve the problem by introducing computational intelligence techniques to remote sensing image analysis. This paper surveys the applications of some computational intelligence techniques in remote sensing image analysis, including neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, swarm intelligence, artificial immune systems.
