A diagnosis system for locomotive diesel engine monitoring

摘要
This system consists of a ferrograph, a spectrometer and a Database which is operated by a computer system. The oil samples were taken from the operating locomotive diesel engines and analysed by spectrometer and ferrograph simutanneously. The wear particles wens microexamined and the quantitive data were memorized, calculated, printed, plotted even given an alarm by the computer system automatically. About 200 locomotives have been monitored for 3 years, The accuracy of engine health prognosis is above 90%. Several engine damages were avoided and the safety of engine operation was enhanced greatly.
