摘要
The Sr-87/Sr-86 ratio of dissolved Sr in groundwater was analysed in order to investigate the effect of carbonate-dissolution on the chemical composition of the groundwater in the regional Murray Group Aquifer in the southwestern Murray Basin, Australia. Groundwater from the south and central part of the Murray Group Aquifer shows a Sr-87/Sr-S6 ratio evolution from 0.7097 at the basin margin to a less radiogenic value of 0.7085 further downgradient, which is similar to the calcite Sr-87/Sr-86 ratio in the aquifer matrix. Results from a model for the incongruent dissolution of carbonate minerals in the aquifer matrix closely match the observed Sr-87/Sr-86 and Sr/Ca ratios. The progressive decrease in Sr-87/Sr-86 with a concomitant increase in the Mg/Ca ratio, and the relationship between Sr-87/Sr-86 ratio and delta(13)C(TDIC) composition in the groundwater further supports the occurrence of incongruent dissolution of carbonates in the Murray Group Aquifer.
