Limit: The new Discourse about an old Concept: Using the Example of a German and Polish Online Report in the Age of the Coronavirus

The corona pandemic and its consequences have given the issue of border all over the world, but also throughout Europe, and even within many European countries, a topicality that was hardly thought possible. The border has manifested its persistence particularly for the citizens affected by the border closures, but also in a variety of German and Polish media discourses. They demonstrate how in the time of corona crisis the old concept of the border has regained a role that was believed to be largely overcome. In order to elaborate on the changing concept of the border, we will carry out an in-depth analysis of German and Polish online reports (from Spiegel+ and Polityka.pl). The two online texts refer to an incident that is portrayed in the two press organs: warning shots fired by the Polish soldiers because of a German on the Polish-Czech border on April 28, 2020.
